Illinois Sheriff's Association Offers $58,000 in Scholarships
The organization will award over $58,000 in scholarships statewide to assist with tuition, books, and fees, according to the press release.
Scholarship Requirements and Eligibility
The scholarships are open to all Illinois residents without restrictions based on race, age, creed, color, sex, or national origin.
However, applicants must meet specific criteria:
- Be permanent residents of Illinois.
- Enroll as full-time students at certified Illinois institutions or in full-time online programs offered by Illinois-based schools.
- Maintain full-time enrollment during the 2025-2026 school year (excluding summer sessions).
Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana will award a $500 scholarship locally, with similar opportunities available across other counties.
How to Apply
Applications are now available at local sheriff’s offices and online at the Illinois Sheriff’s Association website. To apply, students must complete the application form, answer an essay question, and provide all required documentation.
According to the press release, submissions must be returned to the sheriff’s office in the applicant’s permanent county of residence by March 14, 2025.
Mailed applications must be postmarked by the same date to qualify.
