The Illinois senate approved the measure to have the legalization of pot on the November ballot.

A week ago I presented a report from WGN news that shared the issue of legalizing marijuana in the state of Illinois was being brought to the state senate to vote on.

As of today, according to Marijuana Moment, the Illinois state senate voted 37 to 13 to approve for this item to be added to the November ballot for Illinoisans to vote on.

So now what?

The next step is to take it to the House to vote on. If it passes the House of Representatives it will be officially be placed on the ballot with the following terms:

“Shall the State of Illinois legalize the cultivation, manufacture, distribution, testing, and sale of marijuana and marijuana products for recreational use by adults 21 and older subject to state regulation, taxation and local ordinance?”

The debate on legalizing cannabis has had many states, including Illinois, to take a look at ways of changing laws. By placing it on the ballot for the citizens of Illinois will help the state legislature “determine which path [they take]" They have a gauge by how the majority of the state feels on the subject.

So now we shall wait and see what happens next.

To me, gut feeling, it's going to pass and will be on our November ballot.
