Illinois Residents Can Visit the Shedd Aquarium For Free This Weekend
This may come as a complete shock to you, but I have never been to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago before. I have made plans several times to go there, and then something always comes up. One time my husband and I even went as far as walking up to the Shedd's entrance, fully intending to spend an amazing day there, to then discover it was closed to the public that day. (Yes, we should have done our research before arriving). My point here is this, I REALLY want to go to the Shedd Aquarium soon, and this weekend may just be the perfect time to do so!
Illinois Resident Free Days Begin This Thursday at Shedd Aquarium
I'm sure by now you know that a few times every year, the Shedd Aquarium offers free admission to Illinois residents, and I'm not going to lie, a lot of those free days are scheduled at inopportune times like during the middle of the week when the kids are in school. Here comes the good news, the first Illinois Resident Free Days of 2022 begin this Thursday, January 13, and run through Martin Luther King Jr. Day this Monday, January 17, so you can totally take the whole family for a day of aquarium fun!
Here are a couple of things you need to know before you go:
- Reservations need to be made in advance online for the day and time you would like to visit the Shedd Aquarium.
- All visitors ages 5 and up need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter, and all people 16 and older will also need to show a photo ID that matches your vaccination card/proof.
- Face masks must be worn by all visitors over the age of 2.
If you can't make it to the Shedd Aquarium this weekend or on MLK Day, here are more upcoming Illinois Resident Free Days:
- February 7-11, 2022
- February 14-18, 2022
