Illinois License Plate Renewal Will Switch To Every Other Year

In the future, Illinois residents won't have to worry about renewing their license plates every year because a new law will change it to every other year.

It happens to me every year.

I put off renewing my license plates until the last minute. Then I have to run to the Department of Motor Vehicles and wait in a long line with the rest of the procrastinators.

Things will be changing soon in Illinois.

According to sj-r.com,

"Governor Bruce Rauner approved House Bill 4259 that will give drivers the option of renewing their vehicle license plates for two years rather than just one." 

That sounds good to me.

There's only one problem. It won't go into effect until January 1, 2021, because the secretary of state needs time to change their system.

That reminds me, I have to go take care of mine before the end of the month.
