If you're thinking of applying for, or renewing, an Illinois Firearm Owner Identification (FOID) card, the Illinois House passed a bill Saturday that would make fingerprints a requirement when you do, but changes may happen in the Illinois Senate.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) are well aware of the incredible backlog of Illinois Firearm Owners Identification Cards (FOID) and concealed-carry licenses (CCL) waiting to be renewed, and because of that, they've given a 150-day extension to those of us who've seen our cards expire.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White said he hopes this move will save time at driver’s services facilities, where long lines are standard after weeks of the offices being closed due to COVID-19.

In the future, Illinois residents won't have to worry about renewing their license plates every year because a new law will change it to every other year.

So, you would think with the state of Illinois passing a temporary stopgap budget, that once again the state would resume mailing reminder notices to drivers to renew their license plates.
