Ok, Who Did This? Who Put Up This Sign Warning Against Entering Illinois?

Illinois may be known as the Land of Lincoln, but for some locals, it's also the Land of Warning Visitors to Stay Away. In fact, some residents will go above and beyond when it comes to keeping people away. Someone credit their own sign to place at the state's border and it wasn't welcoming. But, why would someone clearly from Illinois do that?

Why would someone from Illinois discourage visitors from out of state?

One word: weather.

Illinoisans have to endure some of the most unpredictable weather conditions in the country. One day it's hot and sunny, the next it's pouring rain, and the day after that you're bundled up in layers because it's snowing. Visitors who aren't used to this kind of weather might find themselves in a constant state of confusion, never knowing what to wear or what to expect.

Then there are the accents. Illinois has some of the most interesting and diverse accents in the country, from Chicago's distinct "da Bears" to the southern twang of Cairo. Visitors might find themselves struggling to understand what the locals are saying, or worse, unintentionally adopting the accent themselves.

What Might A "Stay AWAY!" Sign At Illinois' Border Look Like?

It would probably feature a picture of a cornstalk, a thermometer, and a speech bubble with a confusing jumble of words like "pop" and "soda."

Someone spotted a new Illinois sign on Route 26, at the Wisconsin border, and slapped the evidence to Facebook and I think we all will have the same question.
