No city wants to be on this Top 10 list
Now, when it comes to the annual rankings from pest control company Orkin, city leaders are hoping they won't find the name of their town anywhere on their top 10 lists.
It was just a few months ago that Orkin unveiled their ranking of America's Most Rat-Infested Cities and once again Chicago, Illinois is keeping feral cats employed coming in at #1 for the eighth consecutive year.
Chambers of commerce throughout the United States were on edge again this week as the annual Orkin ranking of the top 50 cities in America that have the worst bed bug problem was revealed.
To compile this list, Orkin took data from both their commercial and residential treatments for bed bugs in metro areas in the U.S. between December 1, 2021, and November 30, 2022.
What are bed bugs?
Typically, bed bugs are 3/16 inch long, red to dark brown in color and are mostly nocturnal insects that come out of hiding to take blood meals from sleeping humans. These pests are hematophagous, which means blood is their only food source. They can travel from place to place with ease, clinging to items such as luggage, purses and other personal belongings. -Orkin
