Illinois Brewery Nominated as One of the Best in the U.S.

Pig Minds Brewing Co. in Machesney Park, Illinois has been nominated as one of the best breweries in the United States, and now they need our help to take home the crown.

I'm a big fan of beer and like to think I've tried a lot of local brews in my days. My tastes tend to veer toward lighter, flavorful options, and some of my favorite 815-made brews come from Pig Minds Brewing Co. in Machesney Park, Illinois.

Last week I saw Pig Mind post this on Facebook, and I immediately needed to know more...

So, here's the deal...

Voting for USA Today's 2024 Reader Choice Awards is currently underway, and Pig Minds Brewing Company has been nominated as one of the top 20 best breweries in the United States according to a panel of legit beer experts. How cool is that!?!

Only one other Illinois brewery made the list, Forbidden Root Restaurant and Brewery in Chicago, Illinois, and Pig Minds needs our help to make it to the top 10! (Forbidden Root is currently sitting higher on the leader board and that is NOT ok!)

One Thing You Might Not Know About Pig Minds Brewing Co. in Machesney Park

While I may be no stranger to Pig Minds' brews, I never knew until today that Pig Minds Brewing Co. was actually the first vegan brewery to ever open in the United States.

Pig Minds' Executive Chef Trisha Coughlin recently told mystateline.com;

A lot of people don’t realize that most beer is not vegan. There are aspects in the beer like stabilizers and different natural flavorings that cause beer to not just naturally be vegan.

The beer at Pig Minds isn't the only thing that is vegan, the entire menu is plant based too, which is pretty unique for breweries.
