Hononegah Alumnus Moves to God’s Country & Starts Coffee Company
There's a new scent in the air near the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and it has a little bit of Northern Illinois in it.
Hononegah graduate and former Durand resident Rick Maness has combined his love for aviation and coffee and blended them together to create a new coffee company.
The Backstory
Rick says his journey in aviation began in 2012 at O'hare International Airport. He was delayed due to maintenance issues and while watching mechanics do their thing he had an epiphany. He no longer wanted to run the restaurant he worked for and knew he wanted to work on airplanes as a mechanic. Rick already had the basic skills, he just needed the proper education. He did and got the job he wanted. Fast forward to 2019, he moved to Tennessee. Skip to 2020, and that would lead. to the premise for this article.
RIck would meet Hayden Settle and they would collaborate to create Flightline Coffee Co., "coffee for the aviation enthusiast!"
Flightline Coffee offers nine flavors, like Clear Skies, Final Approach (Organic), Tailwind Decaf (Organic), Hazelnut, Puddle Jumper (Organic), Mechanics Brew, Layover (Organic), Jet-Lag, and French Vanilla. There's also a 60-pack of single-serve capsules too.
As a coffee-craver, I know I'll end up ordering at least one of their flavors because there's a Rockford area tie-in and the coffee is made in the U.S.A.
Not only do they offer a variety of flavors, but they also have some sweet merchandise available too. You can find all of that and learn more about Flightline Coffee Co. here.
