Kids Helping Kids: The Holiday Shoppe Opens on Saturday
It's a great learning opportunity for Stateline area kids. The Holiday Shoppe opens for the 2014 Christmas season on Saturday.
Once again, area children have the opportunity of purchase presents, while at the same time helping helping other children who are in need this holiday season.
The Children’s Holiday Shoppe is a store just for kids to shop for inexpensive gifts for friends and family. Located at 5846 E. State St. (near to Valli Produce) in Rockford, the Children’s Holiday Shoppe is loaded with new gifts ranging from $1 to $8. Our volunteers are available to help guide kids to stay within their predetermined spending limit. Once they fill their holiday lists, items are wrapped, tagged and ready for giving. While parents remain in the waiting area, volunteers will assist each child as he/she shops for the people on their list. After the child pays for their items, volunteers will help fill out gift cards, wrap the items in decorated gift bags, and return the child to his/her parent.
What make this store unique is that the store benefits the MotherHouse Crisis Nursery with Children’s Home + Aid.
The Holiday Shoppe will be open from November 29-December 21
- Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Sundays from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Thursdays from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
The Children’s Home + Aid organization is a leading child and family service agency in Illinois. Each year, it protects, educates and counsels more than 40,000 children, youth and families to overcome the overwhelming obstacles of poverty, abuse and neglect.
