Grammy Nominated Hip-Hop Superstar Announces Two Illinois Summer Shows

Illinois music fans will have not one, but two chances to see a hip-hop superstar perform live this summer.

Two Illinois Fairs Land Hip-Hop Star

State officials have revealed that a GRAMMY and Golden Globe-nominated artist will headline at both the Illinois State Fair in Springfield and the Du Quoin State Fair in Southern Illinois.

Wiz Khalifa is scheduled to perform at the Illinois State Fair Grandstand on August 19 before traveling south for a second Illinois appearance downstate on August 29 at the Du Quoin State Fair Grandstand, giving fans across the state easy access to one of hip-hop's most recognizable performers.

A Career Filled with Chart-Topping Hits

Exploding onto the scene in 2011, Wiz Khalifa's debut album Rolling Papers featured hits Black and Yellow, Roll Up, and No Sleep.

His biggest global hit, See You Again, became an international phenomenon, topping the charts in more than 90 countries. His 2014 album, Blacc Hollywood, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts.

Illinois Officials Highlight State Fair Entertainment

Illinois state officials noted that major national acts continue to make Illinois' fairs premier entertainment destinations.

Tickets for the Du Quoin State Fair and the Illinois State Fair are available through Ticketmaster. Illinois State Fair in Springfield runs August 13-23, and the Du Quoin State Fair takes place August 28 through September 7 in Du Quoin.
