Craving a night out in Illinois that's equal parts delicious and daring? Look no further than these 5 hidden bars in Chicago.
What Is the Modern Version of a Speakeasy?
Whenever I hear the word "speakeasy" I automatically think of the roaring 20s and where Al Capone and his notorious bunch of gangsters liked to get loaded, but today the term "speakeasy" means something a little bit different.

I came across a list of 10 hidden bars in Chicago from theinfatuation.com, and I was surprised that I had never heard of most of these places before. Here are 5 that I want to check out first...
1. The Violet Hour in Wicker Park
The Violet Hour is one of the oldest hidden bars in Chicago, and it lies behind a mural that is always changing so it can be tricky to find. You don't need a password to enter The Violet Hour, but reservations are highly recommended. Also, they have some weird house rules you need to be aware of too...
2. Blind Barber in Fulton Market
You know what's cooler than the name of this hidden bar in Chicago? The fact that by day it's a working barber shop, but by night it's a cool bar serving up cocktails and food. Entrance to Blind Barber's cocktail lounge is behind a hidden door, and their menu is pretty extensive. Check it out, here.
3. The Office in Fulton Market
The Office is located in the basement of another Chicago favorite for food and drinks, The Aviary, and you legitimately need a key to get in. Now I just have to figure out how to get a key, and enough money in my wallet to pay for the unique drinks.
