Who said you have to be well-known in order to be called the best?

Matter of fact, who said you need to be easy to find in order to be called the best?

Apparently, it doesn't matter much to this place that has fans of their hot dogs and other offerings raving on review sites like Yelp.

I mean, it's only got a little over 700 reviews but they mostly all say the same thing "hidden gem this" and "hidden gem that."

It makes sense though, that I've found most great food, especially in big cities, is usually the kind of place you have to work for to get at.

For example, take the Oven Grinder in Chicago. Up until recently, they didn't take reservations, only accept cash, and there is absolutely positively no place to park. Eating there is a chore but man, is it worth the hassle.

I wonder if the same can be said about the top hot dog joint in Illinois?

Eat This, Not That! says you should definitely make the time and effort to get to Flub A Dub Chub in Chicago.

There's certainly no shortage of amazing hot dog spots in Chicago, but Flub a Dub Chub's is truly something special. If you want an authentic Chicago dog, this is where it's at. The restaurant itself isn't fancy, but that's part of its charm.

Sheldon G. on Yelp says "This is the best Dog and Polish on the north side. The fries are also very good. It's a hidden gem that may be obscured by its location."

However, Kayley H. said, "I really don't understand the hype about this place at all."

The hype over a hot dog joint could lead to a massive letdown, so I get it. That said, I'm heading over there the next time I'm in the city.

Check out Flub A Dub Chub on your own, if you can find the place, at 3021 North Broadway in Chicago.
