Wisconsin Man Robs a 70-Year-Old Woman in Parking Lot of Illinois Casino
Rockford Police officers responded to a strong-armed robbery at the Hard Rock Casino on Wednesday (11/21), according to an RPD press release.
The incident occurred around 11:35 a.m. in the 7800 block of East State Street when a 70-year-old woman was attacked in the casino parking lot.
Surveillance Technology Aids in Immediate Response
The suspect, identified as Nicholas Williams, 39, of Madison, Wisconsin, reportedly approached the victim from behind, grabbed her purse, and fled the scene.
Witnesses observed Williams entering a vehicle and exiting the area via I-90.
The Hard Rock Casino’s advanced surveillance systems played a pivotal role in the swift investigation, capturing key details and facilitating real-time communication with responding officers.

The partnership between the casino’s security team and the Rockford Police Department ensured the safety of patrons and staff while helping to secure critical evidence, according to the press release.
Charges Filed Against Suspect
Following the review of evidence, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized a robbery charge against Williams, specifically due to the victim’s age.
Nicholas Williams is not in custody, and authorities are seeking public assistance in locating him.
