Chicago drive-in movie theater to feature halfway to Halloween movie festival.

I am very excited for the warmer and better spring weather to be here full-time. We had a little taste but it has not been consistent just yet. Being patient is key because remember, "April showers bring May flowers."

Some of the fun outdoor activities are starting to be announced. It really gives me something to look forward to after being stuck indoors all winter. Hopefully, we will have many more this year.

The comeback activity of the year for 2020 was definitely the drive-in movie. Not only did it give people something to do, but also reminded them about how much fun the outdoor theaters can be.

We have several near Rockford and many have already announced their opening weekends. Of course, there are permanent places but some businesses started pop-up ones which were nice because they gave fans more options.

One of the successful temporary locations was held with the Music Box Theater at the Chi-Town Movies Drive-In in Pilsen. A unique event that outdoor movies will host is theme nights. Those are usually a lot of fun. Many are centered around holidays or a particular genre of movie. When it comes to films to see outside, I think my favorite is horror movies. A drive-in has the perfect atmosphere to get into a scary mood.

According to timeout.com,

"The spookiest season is only six months away, so the Music Box Theatre and local horror merch purveyors Creepy Co. are celebrating with a series of Half-O-Ween movie screenings. Taking place at the Chi-Town Movies Drive-In in Pilsen, the three-night event features five scary films, special pre-show presentations, movie trivia and exclusive goodies from the folks at Creepy Co. Access to each screening begins 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. And if you don't have a car, you can bring your own seat and find a spot right in front of the screen."

Here is the schedule...

  • April 30th - "Halloween III: Season Of The Witch"
  • May 1st - Double Feature with "Midsommar" and "Alucarda"
  • May 2nd - Double Feature with  "Friday The 13th Part III" and "Sleepaway Camp"

Sounds like a fun weekend.
