The internet was talking, and people on social media were thinking the store had quietly gone out of business.

Then this was posted on the Gustafson's Furniture and Mattress Facebook:

As many of you know, the Gustafsons are restructuring the business so that Dale and Trina can retire, and David Gustafson and Christopher Gustafson can continue serving our community for another 98 years. We are working to resume normal business functions soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transitionary time. -David Gustafson

“Rockford, We're Back Open” Announcement Adds to the Confusion

Sounds great, right? Then, about a week later, this was also posted on their social media and led with this:

Rockford, we're back open....we're not closing. We're back on track and excited about what's ahead as we continue providing quality, affordable furniture to Rockford.

Well, that didn't last long as that post was deleted and this sign was posted on the door:
