With COVID-19 cases on the rise, the Rockford Public Library announced Monday that they are closing through December 1st, and people are NOT happy.

The new round of COVID-19 mitigations has forced one Rockford restaurant to close, but they will be reopening as something new soon.

The reinstated restrictions will go into effect at 12:01am on Friday, July 24th, to give businesses time to comply.

According to the Illinois Restaurant Association, nearly 5,200 restaurants will go out of business in the coming months because of COVID-19.

The ban includes all activities at state parks, fish and wildlife areas, recreational areas and historic sites.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) says to arrive early in the day and be alert for traffic delays and parking closures at Starved Rock and Matthiessen state parks this Labor Day weekend.

Lots of things going on over the weekend here in Rockford, so try to be patient if you encounter a delay or two.
