The Rockford Speedway officially got back into action this past weekend to the delight of racing fans all over the Stateline, and I have no doubt their stands will be packed, (socially-distanced packed of course), again this Independence Day weekend. Here's why...

The Rockford Speedway will be hosting their annual Red, White and Boom Extravaganza this Saturday, and yes, there will be FIREWORKS!!!

Here's everything you need to know;

  • Racing will begin this Saturday night, July 4, at 7:07 p.m., gates open at 5 p.m.
  • The Red, White and Boom Extravaganza will feature: the Big 8 Late Model Star Spangled 76' , Short Trackers, Spectacular Drags, The Famous Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, the RoadRunner race in total darkness and FIREWORKS!
  • Tickets should be bought in advance, and they will be available first come, first serve.
  • As I sit here writing this, tickets for Saturday's night of racing are NOT on sale yet, so keep a close eye on rockfordspeedway.com or like the Rockford Speedway on Facebook so you don't miss the announcement about when ticket sales go live.

FYI, fireworks will also be happening at the Rockford Rivets Stadium this 4th of July, and last I checked, general admission tickets are still available. Get the link to buy tickets for that fireworks show, here.
