Your help is need to assist a Genoa firefighter and his family whose home was destroyed by a Thanksgiving day fire.

WREX-TV reports that this past Thursday afternoon, the Genoa-Kingston Fire Protection District responded to a fire at the home of James Maynard. James is a 10-year firefighter with the Genoa-Kingston Fire Department. The fire completely destroyed his home.

Firefighters are accepting donations of furniture and clothing for Mr. Maynard and his family. Also affected by the fire is James' wife Nancy, and his sons Tim and Joe.

The Genoa-Kingston Fire Dept has already set up the Maynard Family Donation account at Resource Bank. All Resource Bank locations are accepting money donations.

Donations can be dropped off at:

  • The Genoa Fire Station at 317 E.Railroad in Genoa
  • In Boone County Dist #2 Fire Dept at 1777 Henry Luckow Ln in Belvidere.

Here are clothing sizes needed:

  • Mens' pants 36/34, 34/30 and 30/32.
  • Men's shirts 3XL, XL and small.
  • Mens' shoes -size 12..teen boys size 9 and 11.
  • Women's pants 20 and shirt XXL.
  • Women's shoe size 8.

Both boys are teens in High School. If you have some time, please go through your closet. Any donations are appreciated.
