Gas Prices Go Up Due to a Glitch
This afternoon I received a call from a listener wanting to know if I had any information on why gas prices had gone up to $2.99 a gallon here in Rockford.
I didn't know then but I do now. It's do to a glitch at a refinery.
WGN News reports that an "outage at BP’s oil refinery in Whiting, IN will mean higher gas prices" for us.
A unit that distills more than half of the refinery’s crude oil suffered a mechanical breakdown, and BP says it will take seven to 12 days to fix it.
In the meantime we the consumer will suffer the higher price of a jump of at least $.40.
Booo.... That hurts. Especially now. This month is full of last minute vacations as we try to cram it in and squeeze out as much summer as we can.
