I thought I’d hate driving more than 10 minutes to work, but it doesn’t bother me at all. The sense of community in small towns is by far my favorite thing. If I had to choose one downside, it’s the limited family fun options—but that’s changing thanks to the new GameStar Arcade.

What Is GameStar Arcade?

Honestly, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit how excited I was to find out their was a new place for families to eat and play opening soon in Pecatonica's neighbor town of Durand, Illinois.

GameStar Arcade is located at 202 N. Center St. in Durand and features many different arcade games people of all ages will love to play, but it also has a bar, a kitchen, Cedar Crest Ice Cream, an outdoor patio area that will host live music on select nights, and even a golf simulator!

Here's a quick glimpse of what GameStar Arcade looks like inside...

GameStar Arcade officially opens at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
