Farmers Market For A Cause
This time of year, you will be looking for in-season veggies, fruits, treats and getting outdoors. If you are looking for an affordable farmers market with a purpose behind it, be sure to check out GPS Farmers Market in Machesney Park. Here's why.
GPS Faith Community stands for God's People Serving and this community gathers farmers and vendors from all over the Stateline for their weekly farmers market. The event keeps programs and projects going in the congregation, while supporting farmers and vendors in the Stateline area.
I checked it out last week and here's what I found. In-season tomatoes and the friendliest people around. They shared tips, recipes, and samples without reservation. There were incredibly fresh peaches, flowers, honey, canned pickles of all spices, even music. I even bought Asparagus and grilled it out on the grill right after my trip to this farmers market. If I can do, anyone can.
The GPS Farmer's Market runs every Thursday through September 10 from 3 p.m. till 7 p.m. at 10714 North 2nd Street in Machesney Park.
Be sure to see the goats milk soap tent, you'll be gad you did.
