There is no shortage of great things to do in northern Illinois during the winter. One cold-weather tradition needs to be on your bucket list.

There is nothing quite like a small town gathering to celebrate a holiday. Everyone in town is involved in the town's festivities in one way or another. No truer statement can be made about what happens in the town of Woodstock, Illinois every year on February 2nd.

In 1992, the town was the location for the filming of the Bill Murray and Andie McDowel film Groundhog Day.

The celebration of the furry little weather forecaster covers a span of several days, beginning with the arrival of the town mascot, Woodstock Willie.

$2 showings of Groundhog Day at Classic Cinemas Woodstock Theatre. There are plenty of exhibits around downtown Woodstock, including a memorabilia exhibit at the library.

Of course the big event happens on the morning of February 2, When everyone gathers at Woodstock Square at 7 a.m. for the groundhog to do his thing.

Let's start with the suite that is actually inside the home's turret, The Black Walnut Suite. This room features a four-poster bed and views of the archway seen in the movie.

Next, is The Cherry Blossom Suite. This is the only room with a jetted tub and shower. The rest of the suites all have walk-in showers.

If you're into nautical themes, The Old Oak Room is for you. The room features an old ship steering wheel.

Lastly, the room Bill Murray stayed in, The Magnolia Suite. If you've seen the movie you know the view out of that window.
