If you live in the rest of the state of Illinois, including Winnebago County, you can now vote in March 15th Primary Election, but not in the city of Rockford.

WREX-TV is reporting that early voting for March Primary has been delayed until February 15 for voters registered in the City of Rockford..

Judge Lisa Fabiano issued a court order for the delay because of a ballot issue. City ballots in Rockford contain no provision for a write in candidate.

Rockford attorney John Nelson has filed as a write-in candidate for the Democrat primary for Winnebago County Board Chairman.

In the event a candidate meets the proper criteria files a notarized declaration of intent to be write-in candidates with the proper election authority a space must be provided on the ballot for the office he or she seeks.

This is now the second delay for early voting for the March 15th primary.
