After taking in over 33 dogs in the last week, Winnebago County Animal Services in Rockford is hosting a discounted adoption to help clear its cages immediately.

Here's a simple fact about my family; we LOVE dogs and have three of them at home, (Plus two bunnies, a cat, and some fish)!

While rescue mutts may be my favorite kind of dog, my youngest daughter Harper LOVES huskies, (even though we have never owned one).

Yesterday while using my phone, (and evidently looking at Facebook), Harper discovered this post and immediately started begging to bring him home...

Sadly, since the petting zoo at my house is currently at capacity, I had to tell her no, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't secretly consider it for a moment when I saw Rockie's adoption fee!

In order to help more pets in need in the Rockford area, Winnebago County Animals Services needs spaces to keep them in, and right now their cages are at capacity which is a big problem!

We have almost 20 dogs currently ready to find families so that we can make room for these other pets in need.

Dogs that are included in the $50 adoption special have undergone a wellness exam and received all their vaccinations, are microchipped and have been already. spayed/neutered. In short, they are ready to go home with YOU today!

How to Adopt a Dog at Winnebago County Animal Services

All people interested in adopting an animal at Winnebago County Animal Services must fill out an adoption application to be approved, and during a discounted adoption event, the early bird gets the worm!

You can fill out an application now at, and while you're there make sure to check out pictures and brief descriptions of their adoptable animals so you know which ones you are most interested in before heading to the shelter.
