Have You Met Your 'Heart Dog'?
In case you didn't know, I am 1000 percent a dog person, and because of this my social media feed is usually filled with dog stuff.
While I'm usually fed videos of dogs doing cute and amazing things, the other day I saw a post that brought tears to my eyes with one important question; "what is a heart dog?"
If you've never heard that term before, (I certainly hadn't), here's the part that really got me;
A Heart Dog is not just a beloved pet; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love. It’s that four-legged friend who wiggles their way into the deepest chambers of your heart, leaving an imprint that time cannot fade. This bond is profound, built on a foundation of trust, understanding, and an unspoken language that only the two of you share.
While all of my dogs are special and greatly loved by me, Brooks, who we lost in August 2024, was my "heart dog".
Not a day goes by that I don't miss my sweet "Brooksy Boy", and I only bring this up because Brooks was previously a shelter dog. From the first moment I laid eyes on Brooks in a cage, it was love, and it never wavered.
I guess my point is this, "heart dogs" can be found anywhere, and especially at an animal shelter.
