Popular Discount Chain Closing More Illinois Store Locations

With just a few weeks left in 2023, there's another national discount chain that has decided to close a store in the Land of Lincoln.

Popular Chain Closing at Least 50 Stores By End of Year

According to the U.S. Sun, there are around 1,400 Big Lots stores in America, and by the end of this year, there will be 50 store locations that will close their doors forever.

Bruce Thorn is the CEO of Big Lots and said this is part of the company's strategic plan.

Stores in California and Colorado have already closed, according to The Sun, but there are plans to close more locations in New York, North Carolina, and Illinois.

Which Illinois Big Lots is Closing in 2023

Colonie, New York will be losing their Big Lots store, as well as an Ashville, North Carolina location, according to The Sun.

In Illinois, one of the three Big Lots stores in Peoria began the "store closing sale" on November 27 but hasn't announced what their official closing date will be, says The U.S. Sun.

The sign on the Big Lots in Peoria said "This Location Only" will be closing, but according to the Sun, it's "unclear" if the two other locations will be affected.
