I can't help but think of the "Double Rainbow Oh My God" guy from years ago when I see double rainbows.

Paul Vasquez is the Double Rainbow guy's real name and that video was from, believe it or not, 2010. According to Vasquez's Wikipedia, it has compiled over 48 million views with the remix by the Gregory Brothers garnering over 39 million views.

PAUL VASQUEZ DEATH

Sadly, Vasquez died in March of 2020. He may be one of the first semi-well-known people to have died from COVID-19.

Pure speculation here, but again citing Vasquez's Wiki, he was "tested for COVID-19 but no results have yet been released."

Vasquez was only 57-years-old when he died, way too soon but his memory lives on even in Rockford when a double rainbow is spotted.

ROCKFORD DOUBLE RAINBOW

A big thanks to listener Lexi Tovar who sent in a picture through the station app. She managed to catch a double rainbow in the Rockford sky yesterday moments after the five-minute storm we received in town.

HOW RARE ARE DOUBLE RAINBOWS?

It's not often we see double rainbows, but how rare is it? Well according to How Stuff Works, not that rare actually.

How Stuff Works:

A double rainbow occurs when the light is reflected twice in the drop. It means you can see two different reflections, coming from different angles [source: Plait]. This leads to something that is actually really cool — instead of seeing red at the top and blue at the bottom like a regular ho-hum rainbow, the secondary rainbow (which is higher and lighter in color than the primary) has the colors reversed [source: Margusity and Andrews].

Either way, I still think it's pretty cool. I'll take a double rainbow any day.
