It's one of the most frustrating things about driving this time of the year. You driving along and out of nowhere comes a deer and bang!

Deer vs Car accidents are up around this time of the year. The DeKalb Police department took to it's Facebook Page to warn motorists about large increase of police reports filed regarding collisions with deer in the road.

Oh deer! Unfortunately we have had four deer vs. vehicle accidents this past week - all occurring between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the southwest part of DeKalb. Either dawn or dusk is when the deer are the most active. So, stay alert!

Remember, a deer vs car accident can occur at any time

Deer can appear suddenly and without warning, but knowing how to react and where and when they are most likely to strike can greatly reduce your chances of being involved in an accident.

CultureofSafety.com offers this advice when driving:

1. Don't Swerve:

Swerving can result in vehicles moving into oncoming traffic, crashing into trees and other objects, or evening rolling over.

2. Pay Attention to deer crossing signs. They are there for a reason.

3. Deer are most active between 6:00p-9:00pm

4. Use your high beams when possible.

Many people argue that deer whistles do not work. Some people swear by a product called The Hornet. it is an electronic Deer Avoidance System. Anyone try this before, does it work, or is just snake oil? Any product that you would recommend?
