Deadly 24 Hours Saturday in Illinois with Murder, Fatal Stabbing

Rockford Police are actively investigating two separate incidents on Saturday that left two individuals deceased.

Shooting at Party in Rockford Leaves One Dead

According to the press release from the Rockford Police Department, at around 3:30 am on Saturday morning (6/24), officers responded to a report of a loud party where shots were fired in the 3300 block of Sunnyside Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers "were advised there had been a party in the roadway, and shots were fired toward the crowd."

Just moments later, officers on the scene received a report that a 19-year-old male arrived at a local hospital with a bullet wound to the chest but later died of his injuries, according to the press release.

Altercations in Rockford Residence Leads to Fatal Stabbing

Officers from the Rockford Police Department responded to a report of someone being stabbed around 2:25 pm on Saturday afternoon (6/24) in the 2220 block of 19th Avenue.

When they arrived on the scene, officers were advised that the victim had sustained the stabbing wounds during an altercation inside the home.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. He was 33 years old, according to the press release.
