A national award has been given to the music program of the Rockford school district.

There's not a lot of exciting things going on right now for the students of the Rockford schools. I know first hand because my daughter attends East High School. They haven't been in class since before spring break. Everything is in limbo. I think they deserve a win like this.

According to the RPS205 website,

"Rockford Public Schools was recognized this month with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education."

The Rockford schools sometimes get a bad rap but as a parent whose child grew up in the district. I can tell you, there's a lot of these great things going on that people don't know about.

To get recognized by the NAMM Foundation is quite the honor. It stands for the National Association of Music Merchants, so they know what they're talking about. From the NAMM website, "The NAMM Foundation promotes and supports music education and music making for people of all ages and abilities."

Congratulations, I'm very proud of you.
