What's Up, Doc? is a weekly health segment on WROK sponsored by MercyHealth. Each week they highlight a different doctor/healthcare professional to come on our show and talk to us about their specialty. It has turned into one of our favorite segments. All of our doctors have exhibited a "human" side that people don't always get to see with their physicians. We encourage you to check out some of our past episodes here. We've done about 30 of these segments highlighting everything from Lyme disease to hernia repair to finding a health care plan and everything else in between. We've learned a lot and hope you can too.

Thursday's guest was one of our non-doctor guests but, like all our other non-doctor guests, has just as a significant role at the hospital.

Jennifer Johns is the head of the Mercyhealth Development Foundation. Her bubbly personality is a perfect fit for her job.

She wanted to let people know about the Holiday Give a Gift Drive happening Friday morning at Javon Bea hospital to benefit their NICU program.

The NICU, or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is for newborn infants that need specialized care. Babies often have to spend weeks or months in the unit with the parents having to travel to and from waiting for their newborn to get healthy enough to come home.

With this travel comes many costs like food, travel, and lodging. The hospital tries to offset these costs by providing these families with some provisions to help lighten the load.

It are these provisions that the hospital is looking to collect during their holiday drive. They are looking for donations of gas cards, restaurant gift cards, hotel gift cards, or even cash cards to pass out to these families.

They will be collecting them in front of the Javon Bea Hospital Friday December 10th from 8-11AM. Any amount or source is greatly appreciated.
