After delighting audiences at 2 sold out shows at the Coronado Performing Arts Center in Rockford, Illinois Saturday night, Charlie Berens popped by a downtown bar to make his signature drink.

Rockford, Illinois Loves Charlie Berens

I was experiencing major FOMO on Saturday night seeing all the pics people were sharing from Charlie Berens at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, and was super bummed that I couldn't make either of the two shows.

For those that think they don't know who Charlie Berens is, I'm willing to bet you've watched several of his Wisconsin-style humor videos before. Here's a few of his latest from Instagram where he picks on one his favorite things...Illinois.

Along with being a very funny and proud Wisconsinite, Charlie Berens is also an Emmy winning journalist and a New York Times best selling author, thanks to his book; "The Midwest Survival Guide".

Charlie Berens began his comedic career in 2012, but his major rise to fame started in 2017 when he began hosting an online comedy news show called the "Manitowoc Minute". He's been featured on several national television shows, and this past Saturday night he performed for two sold out crowds in Rockford.

Charlie Berens Makes Surprise Appearance at One Rockford Bar

If you went to one of the shows at the Coronado on Saturday, you saw Charlie drinking an Old Fashioned on stage, which I heard he said tasted like jet fuel. (Fun fact: Our station's Promotions Director, who works part-time for the Coronado, made these Old Fashioned for Charlie..LOL!)

Apparently, those Old Fashioned weren't good enough for Charlie Berens, so after his second show was over, he popped into the Wood & Brick Tavern at 315 South Main Street (the former JBears space) to make one for himself...

Thank goodness Wood & Brick Tavern had the correct Old Fashioned fixins' on hand, or Charlie Berens would never come visit Rockford again!

We look forward to see you again soon, Charlie!
