Backstage at the ACM Awards, Carrie Underwood Was the Ultimate Multitasking Mama
Before Carrie Underwood could take the stage at the 2019 ACM Awards on Sunday (April 7), the superstar country singer had some mommy duties to take care of.
Specifically, she had to pump milk for her 2-month-old son Jacob, who was born in January.
"Getting ready for my performance…also pumping," a glammed-up Underwood wrote alongside a picture she shared on her official Instagram, also hashtagging "#multitasking."
"People expect more of us 'celebrities,'" Underwood remarked in an interview before the awards show about trying to balance being it all, which for her includes a career as a country artist and raising two young boys, newborn Jacob and 4-year-old Isaiah.
"Everyone is busy showing the highlight reels of their life, but life is messy," she insists. "I'm a mom first and foremost. That's my favorite. I love my job but that's my favorite role to play."

Once she was done pumping, it was off to the races for Underwood. Not only was she stepping out on the red carpet for the first time since giving birth to her second child, but she also was scheduled to partake in two big performances.
Underwood delivered one of the more fun numbers of ACMs with her poolside performance of "Southbound," later playing a large role in This Is Us star Chrissy Metz' live-singing debut with a song from the new film Breakthrough.
Next up is one of the hottest tours of the summer — Underwood's Cry Pretty 360 Tour launches May 1, with Maddie & Tae opening the show. The run will play 55 arenas across the U.S. and Canada.
