Carpenter’s Place Begins Flip of Schnucks on Rural This Sunday
In August of 2020 news broke that Carpenter's Place in Rockford had purchased the old Schnucks location on Rural Street with the purpose of opening a new thrift store called "Carpenter's Corner...Thrift and More".
The plan for Carpenter's Corner is to help fund the services they provide for the homeless community in Rockford, and the building will also be home to special CP programs like 'Cycles for Change', and a children’s “give-away” library.
After watching the former Schnucks on Rural become more and more of an eyesore over the last few years, I'm happy to say that its transformation will finally get underway this Sunday, May 23rd!
Carpenter's Place is asking volunteers to stop by the building on Rural Street anytime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. this Sunday, May 23 to help them begin cleaning up the space.
Volunteers do not need to sign up for specific work shifts. Carpenter's Place just really needs help with this effort, and they are asking people to give them whatever time they have available on Sunday before 3 p.m.
Carpenter's Place would also appreciate it if volunteers could bring with any of the following to help with clean up:
- Brooms
- Buckets
- Mops
- Power washer
- Rags
- Rakes
- Shovels
- Wheelbarrows
- Paper towels
- Trash bags
- Lawn waste bags
If you need more information on volunteering at Carpenter's Place, or if you would like to let them know you will be lending a hand this Sunday, please call Brook at 815-964-4105 ext.203 or email CPEngagement@CarpentersPlace.org.
