Race fans across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin will have a chance to experience one of the biggest drag racing events in the Midwest for free this weekend.

Free Admission During Major Racing Event

The Autoland Door Car Challenge announced that spectators will receive free admission after 3 p.m. Saturday during the major racing event at Byron Dragway.

The event, scheduled for this Saturday, May 16, is expected to attract racers and spectators from across the region as competitors battle for a massive $50,000 grand prize.

Organizers say the race has become the highest-paying all-door-car bracket race in the country, elevating Byron Dragway's profile within the national drag racing community.

High-Horsepower Racing Headlines "Showtime Saturday"

Known as "Showtime Saturday," the event will feature more than just the main championship race. Fans attending the Illinois motorsports event will also see a Quick 16 competition showcasing some of the fastest vehicles at the track, along with burnout and wheelie contests designed to keep crowds entertained throughout the evening.

Autoland Outlets representative B.J. Vangsness said organizers wanted to create an opportunity for more families and racing enthusiasts to experience drag racing in Byron without the added cost of admission later in the day.

Concessions and pit access will remain available for attendees, giving spectators a closer look at the high-powered race teams and vehicles competing throughout the weekend.
