It seems like list of businesses announcing closings in 2017 continues to be on the rise. New we can add Applebees and IHOP to the list

According to a report from FOX32,  Applebee's and IHOP will be closing as many as 135 Applebee's locations and 25 IHOP restaurants in the coming months. Earlier this year they announced plans to close up to 60 Applebee's and 15 IHOP's.

What not known at this time are the exact locations the chain plans to close.

Applebee's and IHOP have many locations in the Rockford, Belvidere, DeKalb, Beloit and Freeport areas between the two chains owned by parent company, DineEquity.

The reason? According to CEO Richard J Dahl:

We are investing in the empowerment of our brands by improving overall franchisee financial health, closing under-performing restaurants and enhancing the supply chain.

The date of the closures have not been announced.
