Anthony Rizzo Donates Over 3 Million to Kids With Cancer
Another day, another awesome deed done by Anthony Rizzo.
Here's the truth, I am a terrible Chicago Cubs fan. I cannot sit through a game on television, but I sure can love on the Cub players. Especially Anthony Rizzo. For one, he's adorable, I just want to pinch his cheeks. Secondly, he has a heart of gold and seems to really care about people. Thirdly, he is a truly inspirational cancer survivor. He knows that a cancer diagnosis is not only hell for the one with the disease, but also for the entire family that loves them. That is why he created the Anthony Rizzo Foundation to raise money for cancer research, and to provide support for kids and families battling the disease.
The fight against childhood cancer is extremely important to me. Not just because I am a mother of two little girls, but because I work so closely with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Rizzo continued his cancer fighting mission with a big announcement yesterday that literally brought tears to my eyes. Here's my favorite part from the press release Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago posted yesterday;
The Anthony Rizzo Foundation has announced a $3.5 million commitment to create two endowed funds at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago — funds that will profoundly touch the lives of numerous patients treated for cancer and their families. With this commitment, the Foundation will have donated more than $4 million to the hospital.
God bless you, Anthony Rizzo. You have a fan for life in me.
