One of Rockford, Illinois' most beloved attractions is hosting not one, but two fun Halloween events your family won't want to miss this October.

Best Fall Attractions in Rockford, Illinois

Each fall I consider myself quite blessed to live in the Rockford area thanks to all the seasonal, family fun you can have this time of the year. From pumpkin patches and apple orchards, to massive trunk-or-treat and Halloween party events, there is always something fun to see and do in the Stateline area during the fall.

All that being said, one of my favorite places to visit in Rockford during the fall is hands down, Anderson Japanese Gardens.

Walking through the beautiful colors and sounds of Anderson Japanese Gardens always makes me feel so relaxed and content, but my family likes to go there to have fun too, and these two Halloween events are perfect for doing exactly that!

Halloween Events at Anderson Japanese Gardens

Beginning Saturday, October 19 through Saturday, October 26, Anderson Japanese Gardens will come alive with intricately carved pumpkins and Halloween fun for the entire family.

Anderson Japanese Gardens' Path of Pumpkins will be the first thing to kick off a week of spooky fun in the Gardens. The garden paths will be lined with amazingly carved pumpkins from Rockford area middle and high schools, and we get the chance to vote for our favorites!

Saturday, October 26, 2024 doesn't just mark the end of voting for the Path of Pumpkins, it is also the day to grab your costumes and have a ton of family fun at the Garden's Spooktacular event.

Spooktacular at Anderson Japanese Gardens will take place on Saturday, October 26 from 2 to 5 p.m. and features:

  • Trick-or-treating throughout the Garden.
  • Halloween craft and activity stations.
  • A spooky "graveyard" perfect for taking pictures in.
  • The chance to see creepy creatures like vultures, ravens, and owls from Hoo Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Anderson Japanese Gardens is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, November 1.Starting November 2 through November 10 (THE LAST DAY OF THE FALL SEASON),  the Gardens will still be open 7 days a week, but will close at 4:30 p.m. each day.

Start planning your family trip to Anderson Japanese Gardens while you still can!
