Are you a thermostat freak? Are you constantly changing the temperature of your house by a single degree so that you're relaxing in the PERFECT environment? I am one of those people, so there's no shame. So when I saw this news, I freaked out.

Federal program Energy Star has recently released some settings recommendations for air conditioners to help cut down energy usage and cost. But are the savings worth the potential suffering? Fox details -

According to Energy Star, keeping your central air thermostat set to 78 degrees is optimal for both cooling and energy efficiency, but this recommendation only applies to the times when you are home. While you are away from the house during the day, you should keep the thermostat set to 85 degrees or higher. While you sleep, Energy Star recommends keeping the temperature set at 82 degrees or higher.

If anyone ever set my thermostat to anything higher than 75 degrees I would be calling the police immediately. However, there are benefits that could be worth it. Fox explains -

For every degree you raise the set temperature of your central air, you’ll save about three percent on your utility bill, according to the Department of Energy.

So are you down to break a sweat to save some cash?
