Amazon Sued Over Refund Failure; Illinois and Wisconsin Shoppers Could Get Paid
A lawsuit against Amazon could mean some serious money back to online shoppers in Illinois, Wisconsin, and beyond.
Amazon Accused of Violating Its Own Return Policy
The lawsuit alleges that Amazon breached its return policy by failing to issue refunds or accept returns after initially promising to do so. The plaintiff is based in Kentucky, but millions of people can join the lawsuit, including those in Rockford, Chicago, or any other location where someone may have:
- Sent an item back to Amazon within the 30-day return window
- Was charged for it anyway, or
- They never got the refund they expected

Shoppers Left to Catch Amazon’s Mistakes
The lawsuit also claims that Amazon required customers to notice the error themselves, which would involve some effort. To me, this is one of Amazon's most egregious offenses. The case is currently pending the outcome of the class action lawsuit, which will determine whether customers should be automatically included or allowed to join. The amount of any potential payments is currently unknown, pending the outcome of the case and any subsequent settlement.
