"Don't you die on me". Trooper Eric Devers is a true hero.

Trooper Devers of the received a well deserved certificate of recognition on Thursday for his actions while responding to a crash that helped save a commercial vehicle driver’s life.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Trooper Devers found the big rig driver belted in the driver’s seat, taking low, gasping breaths with eyelids half closed. The officer noticed the driver’s eyes rolled back into his head and that he slumped over and quit breathing.

In the video you can hear trooper Devers repeat: "Don't you die on me" over and over.

Shortly after, a private citizen also stopped to help Trooper Devers kept the driver upright as Trooper Devers performed CPR chest compressions until EMS arrived.

The highway patrol reports that Trooper Devers was on the scene for 12 minutes before to medical personnel arrived, at which time the driver began breathing on his own and stabilized.

The driver was later taken to a nearby hospital and made a full recovery.
