A head-on crash on N. Alpine Road early Wednesday morning (2/26) left 2 people with serious injuries, and resulted in criminal charges for a Rockford man.

Crash Occurs During Morning Commute

According to the press release, Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at around 7 am on Wednesday (2/26) in the 9500 block of N. Alpine Road.

Upon arrival on the scene, deputies observed a Kia and a Hyndia had collided head-on.

Two Sustain Serious Injuries in Crash

The driver and the passenger of the Kia both sustained serious injuries in the collision and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 27-year-old Xander White of Rockford, was also transported to a hospital but was treated for minor injuries and released.

Charges Filed Against Xander White

Following an investigation, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's office reviewed the case and authorized charges against White.

Xander White is charged with aggravated reckless driving in connection with the crash.

After White was released from the hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash, he was taken into custody and lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.

Law enforcement officials are highlighting that the charges against Xander White are merely accusations, and he's presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Authorities Continue Investigation

The Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was on the scene of the head-on collision to conduct a thorough investigation.
