A Retired Navy Lieutenant in Rockford Wins Hometown Hero Status
Anyone and everyone can be nominated to be a Q98.5 Hometown Hero. We're always on the lookout for women, men, teens, or children who do something selfless or exception, or simply deserve recognition for their impact on others in the community. When it comes to our military, the nominated person is rushed to the front of the line, which is the case for this week's nomination.
Marcia K. of Rockford nominated retired US Navy Lieutenant Jason Cloyd, who gave 25 years of sacrifice and dedication to the United States of America.
Jason went into the Navy just out of high school at the age of 17. His naval career was based with nuclear submarines. He loved what he did and worked his way up to Lieutenant. He spent almost 25 years away from family and friends returning home briefly for leave every few years. Now he's retired and returned to the area regardless of the fact that many have left the area due to taxes, weather etc. He wanted to come home. Let's welcome him back!!
As a Q98.5 Hometown Hero, Jason will receive a $100 Amazon gift card thanks to Gustafson's Furniture & Mattress. Although we're certain he won't spend it on himself, whatever he uses it for will bring joy to someone, and that's what life is all about.
