Over the Holiday weekend I had a glimpse into parenthood.

I saw my nephew off to Boy Scout Camp.

I felt sad at seeing him leave.

He was really excited. That's all he talked about since arriving to the family dinner on Friday, July 4th.

My sister (his Mom) and I helped pack his clothes, labeled his stuff and then we saw him off yesterday.

I got to tell you parents. Although, I was excited for him. I was sad too. I almost teared up seeing him drive away for a week in the Stockton for Boy Scout Camp.

I know he'll be fine. But, wow! I was surprised at the sadness in seeing him leave. He's only my nephew. I can't imagine what it must feel like if he were my son.

Parent's your job isn't easy raising kids. I found an even newer and deeper respect and admiration for you all. I got a small taste of what it feels like to be a parent and watching your children grow up.

If you're finding yourself in this position with your kids going off to camp for the first time. Regardless if it's a few days or a week. I looked up a a couple of articles in helping you and your children cope and to get prepared for camp that may help. Check out these articles from Campingparents.org and CanadianLiving.com.
