If you are one of the lucky ones to be blessed with red hair, your festival is just around the corner.

I'm in envy of all who attend.

I'm a very light, almost bleach blonde girl who has always dreamed of having red hair. At one of my first dance recitals, I must have been 4 or 5-years-old we dressed as Cabbage Patch dolls. We got to choose what color yarn wig we wanted to wear and I of course wore a red one.

As I got older, I dreamed of coloring my hair red. I tried a handful of times but because I'm so blonde it either didn't stay for longer than a wash or two or my hair would turn incredibly orange.

My dreams of being a redhead are over.

But, if you are one of the lucky ones blessed with beautiful red hair, then you will be lucky enough to join the festivities in Highwood, IL.

According to the Redhead Days Chicago 2016 Facebook Page, the second annual event will be June 4th from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and June 5th from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

This year will be even bigger with live music, food vendors and food trucks, beer, wine, red-themed cocktails and soft drinks and more.

There will even be a Carrot Cake Throwdown, a petting zoo, pony rides, bounce houses and fun for the entire family.

Admission is free, but if you are a redhead, you are asked to register to track attendance of the most Redheads gathered in one city.
