As the 2024 Du Quoin State Fair kicks off, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is set to make a splash at their new Midway tent.

Learn About Foster Care, Adoption, and Guardianship at the DCFS Tent

According to a press release, DCFS is rolling out the red carpet this year—literally—inviting fairgoers to explore a range of activities designed to highlight their mission of supporting children and families.

Visitors to the DCFS tent will have the chance to learn about the transformative impact of foster care, adoption, and guardianship.

Agency representatives will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. Additionally, potential recruits can fill out applications to join the DCFS team, while free gun locks will be distributed to promote safety in homes with firearms.

Superhero-Themed Fun and the 39th Annual Foster and Adoptive Family Picnic

In line with the fair's "It’s Showtime" theme, attendees can immerse themselves in superhero fun with a themed photo backdrop and a "make and take" activity area for children to create their own superhero masks.

The festivities continue with the 39th annual Foster and Adoptive Family Picnic on August 24, featuring a complimentary lunch, discounted admission, and carnival rides for participating families.
