15th & Chris, one of Northern Illinois' most beloved burger restaurants, known for its delicious burgers and fries, and shakes, has been a staple in the community for almost 5 years. However, the restaurant recently suffered a significant setback this weekend after a fire that caused over $100,000 in damages.

15th & Chris' food truck is arguably the driving force behind the restaurant's popularity. (No pun intended.) Oftentimes it can be spotted around the area, serving up its delicious burgers and fries to customers all over the Northern Illinois area.

Local foodies love 15th's food and it's not uncommon for long lines to form when it is out and about. Despite the damage to the restaurant, the food truck was unharmed by the fire.

What Happened?

A fire occurred on a Sunday evening, and fortunately, no one was injured. However, the damages to the restaurant, at 201 15th Ave., were significant, and it will be closed for repairs for an undetermined amount of time. The Rockford Fire Department is currently investigating the incident as possible arson, and they are asking anyone with information to come forward.

As of this article the owner of 15th & Chris, James Purifoy, has not posted anything regarding the fire to the restaurant's Facebook page. However, if you know Purifoy, you know he is determined to rebuild and re-open the restaurant as soon as possible.

Let's hope the food truck will continue to serve the community, bringing a taste of 15th & Chris to the people. There's no doubt the community will rally around the restaurant, offering their support and condolences to the owners and staff.

The fire at 15th & Chris is a reminder of the importance of supporting local businesses, and the community is looking forward to the restaurant's reopening.
