Time flies, and so did WIFR's tower on July 5, 2003. It's crazy that this happened 15 years ago. It seems it was only recently when power was lost throughout Rockford, including local radio stations, and WIFR went completely off-air.

A microburst was the cause of all the chaos and took out a tree that almost demolished my car while parked alongside Washington Street near East State Street. The dry storm also took out WIFR's tower causing the station to be off the air for several months while a new tower was constructed.

Here's a video of the aftermath. It's not in HD though, because... 2003.

Also, happy anniversary to Mark "Honey Badger" Henderson for 15 years at WIFR.
