Amazon has announced it is bring 1000 new full time jobs to Illinois.You can thank the popularity of online shopping for the new employment.

WGN-TV is reporting that the world's largest on-line retailer in the world plans to open two new fulfillment centers in Aurora, Illinois. it's estimated that Amazon will hire 1,000 full time employees to staff the two fulfillment facilities.

Illinois will not be the only state where the shipping giant will be hiring, as Amazon also announced they would employing an additioanl1,000 new employees to staff a facility center in Livonia, Michigan.

An a press release, Amazon says:

“In just over two years, Illinois has proven itself to be an ideal location from which Amazon can continue offering customers our vast selection and superfast shipping speeds,” said Akash Chauhan, Amazon’s vice president of North American operations. “We’re excited to be growing and creating even more full-time jobs that offer comprehensive benefits on day one as well as generous maternity and parental leave benefits.”

Over the past two years, Amazon has announced eight fulfillment centers in Illinois.Curretnly Amazon has locations in:

  • Edwardsville
  • Joliet Romeoville
  • Monee (Currently under construction)

So, if you do the math, with the addition of the two fulfillment centers announced for  Aurora, that totals five, which leaves three more locations to come.
